Christian Formation and Fellowship

As a community, Southminster Presbyterian Church enjoys the connections we share. When you join us, you will find that people love to be together in this church. Whether over coffee during fellowship hour, a parking lot picnic, the chili cook off, Sunday school classes or working together, we are a family. Connect to God and to our community through Faith Formation, fellowship, or fun!

Faith Formation/Christian Education

We believe that Faith Formation is vital as we seek to grow in our faith as disciples of Jesus Christ. We offer classes for adults, youth and children. Most classes are on Sunday morning.

Youth Formation

Youth Sunday school meets on Sunday morning at 9:30 am. They use a variety of media to approach faith. Art, movies, music and discussion are all ways we speak to how God is at work in the youth as well as in the world. Youth also meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm for Youth Group which combines fellowship and continuing formation as a community of faith.

Children Formation

Children meet on Sunday morning at 9:30 am for a brief time of worship and singing before going to graded classes

Club 456

Fourth through sixth graders meet twice a month for fun, fellowship, and faith formation. This group typically meets at 5:00 on the first and third Sundays of the month.

Fellowship

From parking lot picnics, yard games, Christmas carol sing or board game nights, the Family Life committee works to provide fellowship opportunities at Southminster and to nurture connections within our community. We have shifted in the past two years to simple outdoor activities so we could be together as safely as possible. We look forward to the time when we can return to some of our favorites like the Chili Cookoff that follows Trunk or Treat, or our Parking Lot Picnic and Summer Cafes.

Dine In / Dine Out

Each quarter people gather in small groups for a meal in someone’s home or at a local restaurant.  These groups change each quarter so different people host and there is an opportunity for fellowship with different church members.  During COVID these groups have begun meeting outside and people bring their own food.  Contact Susan Fiser from the Family Life Committee if you are interested in joining a group.

Southminster Presbyterian Women

Southminster Presbyterian Women (SPW) meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 am or 9:30 am to study and pray together.  SPW is committed to nurturing faith through study and prayer together, through supporting the mission of the church worldwide, through working for justice and peace, and through building and inclusive and caring community of women to witness to the promise of God’s kingdom.

SPW meets for 2nd Saturday breakfasts and the Women of Cana meet quarterly as opportunities for all the women of the church to gather for fellowship.
